THE RUSSIAN INVESTIGATION
Mueller Report and Barr Summary
- ‘Dozens’ of Whistle-Blowers Are Secretly Cooperating With House Democrats
- Angry White House Staffer: This is what I was talking about when I said there were a lot of folks doing the right thing, even if you might not see it. Let the record show that “dozens” is a *shit-ton* of whistleblowers.
- Adam Schiff: Questions surrounding Barr are mounting: He auditioned for the job with a memo attacking the obstruction case. He then pronounced his own judgment on obstruction. Now it is reported he may have substituted his own summary for Mueller’s. The only antidote is full transparency.
- Rick Wilson: Oh bless your heart. We’re just getting started.
- Countercheckist: Both NYT and WaPo landing stories on the same day of former Mueller team members expressing their “frustrations” with Barr’s letter is a subtle yet clear warning to tRUmp & Co. The truth is coming one way or another. Stand in its way at your own risk.
- Trump Allies Change Their Tune on Rod Rosenstein
- Natasha Bertrand: New from me and @PeterAtlantic: Trump allies went from bashing Rosenstein to praising him for concluding that Trump did not obstruct justice. But Rosenstein was at least a witness in that obstruction probe, further muddying the legitimacy of that finding:
- Angry White House Staffer: Trump has sent 7 tweets on the Mueller report today. I’m starting to think it’s not a complete and total exoneration. 😏

The cover-up feels like it’s starting to unravel. As mentioned The Last Few Days 04/02/2019, we must make sure that the full, unredacted report comes out.
How? Check out the Congress section.
- Natasha Bertrand: TODAY: Status reports are due for Sam Patten, who has been cooperating with DC prosecutors and Mueller’s team since August. He pleaded guilty to violating FARA and admitted to funneling funds to Trump’s inaugural for a pro-Russian Ukrainian oligarch.
- Tea Pain: So, if… 1) A sittin’ president can’t be indicted, only impeached and… 2) This sittin’ president’s Attorney General won’t release information to Congress necessary for impeachment… Tell us again how “no one is above the law.”
- What we know about the genesis of the Russia investigation
CONGRESS
Mueller Report
- Congress is right to subpoena the Mueller report. It shouldn’t have had to.
- Congress Should Sue for the Mueller Materials Today
- Congress Waits as Barr Blacks Out Parts of Mueller Report
- Congress’ new Mueller fight: Do Dems need to begin impeachment to see secret files?
- House Judiciary requests all communications between DOJ and Mueller’s office
- Mueller report rules were written to give Congress access, say experts. The decision by Trump’s attorney general to draw his own conclusions violates the spirit of federal statutes.
- Mueller team ‘faction’ wanted Congress to decide on Trump and obstruction
- Nadler says Congress “entitled to see all” of Mueller report, vows court fight for grand jury testimony
- Nadler To Barr: Release Public Report Summaries Mueller’s Team Reportedly Wrote
- Nadler: Barr is ‘biased’ and Mueller’s Trump-Russia report must be released
What’s very interesting is that we’re finally hearing from people on the Mueller team. Now that they’re no longer actively on the payroll, they’re free to talk. We’re hearing that they wrote public facing summaries for each section that Barr either ignored or blocked. While Barr is promising to give Congress a redacted version, they have already subpoenaed the unredacted version and all of the associated evidence. If the DOJ attempts to block that, which they almost certainly will, then Congress has another tool up their sleeve which may force the DOJ to comply.
Impeachment.
By initiating impeachment proceedings, Congress can force the DOJ to hand over not just the report, but all evidence and grand jury testimony as well. That might be the only way out of this part of the mess.
But it’s not the only mess.
Trump’s Taxes
- Natasha Bertrand: Trump’s story for years has been that he *couldn’t* release his returns because he’s under audit. Now Mulvaney openly says Trump “could have given” them but chose not to.
- Mulvaney: Issue of Trump’s tax returns ‘already litigated’ in 2016
- Eric Garland: 1. Why would tax returns destroy anybody except…y’know, money launderers. 2. “It’s Nixonian to the core.” Freudian slip much, Chuck? He was a crook. Nixon was a crook with criminals around him and a Soviet advisor. So points to Chuck for accuracy. Now let’s get to the next part of the story.

- Manu Raju: House Dems are telling Capital One to turn over a host of financial records about Trump and Trump Hotel, as part of a wide-ranging investigation into potential financial conflicts of interest and whether POTUS in compliance with emoluments Bank says it wants subpoena to comply. Jordan and Meadows not happy with this move, saying: “This type of derivative request is not a best practice and has the veneer of a fishing expedition.”
- Trump’s handpicked IRS chief and IRS legal counsel both have ties to Trump businesses
- Trump reportedly wanted to fast-track his IRS chief counsel’s nomination and prioritized it over his attorney general
- Trump rushed former company lawyer into IRS post ahead of Democrats’ demands
- Fox News and MSNBC agree Trump’s audit excuse is bogus
Trump is fighting tooth and nail to keep his taxes private, but there’s only so much he can do. The IRS is required by law to hand over the requested returns to the Ways and Means Committee. Congress can also subpoena his tax accountant for the records, since they could be held criminally liable for any illicit activity. The tax records would also exist at the state level, too.

- Countercheckist: Decency is the best weapon against indecency. Americans are tired of the cage fight that’s become our national politics. We don’t need to race loudmouths and know-nothings to the bottom, patriots. Stand up for reasonability, good governance, and who we are as Americans.

- Greg Olear: Send her to The Hague. One-way ticket.
- Caroline Orr: #BREAKING: Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has resigned. Trump reportedly blamed her for not being “tough” enough in enforcing immigration laws. He wants to go in a “tougher” direction — because ripping babies away from their parents was apparently too soft.
- Tea Pain: Nielsen said she wanted to spend more time with her family not in a cage.
- Caroline Orr: Kirstjen Nielsen was horrible as Secretary of Homeland Security. She’s horrible as a human being and should have been gone a long time ago. .. but don’t get too excited about the news. Trump wants to replace her with someone who will be even more cruel and inhumane.
- Walter Shaub: May their cries haunt her dreams.
- Angry White House Staffer: Looks like Nielsen is out. Send her to The Hague.
- Angry White House Staffer: Remember when I said immigration was 100% Miller? Wasn’t kidding. —->

That’s it for the last few days. Yes, I’m behind by a few days. The continuous drama is very time consuming and draining on me. I’ve been in a holding pattern for the last couple days for finding a long term housing solution, and I’ve learned a lot of shit about him over the past few weeks. I didn’t think it was possible to have a lower opinion of him than I already had when I started this journey, but just like the rest of my life he’s found new and interesting ways to abuse and disappoint.
That’s the first time I’ve used the a-word to describe his behavior in the written form. It won’t be the last.
My next post should be posted by Wednesday or Thursday covering Monday to posting. I’m still in the fight, just not on the front lines right now.
Thank you, and have a good one.
